We can build anything from a modern piece of furniture with a square finish to a more traditional chesterfield type piece of furniture. Our services

A free estimating service is available for contract and re-upholstery work. We always ensure a rapid turnaround from your initial enquiry to completetion of work. Safety is hugely important to us, so the use of industry approved fire retardant materials comes as standard. In all, we insist on high quality work at competitive prices. Discounts are also available for bulk orders.

We also offer French Polishing on new furniture.

Contract upholstery

We are upholsterers and frame makers for fixed seating. Whether a deep buttoned style in leather, or a fluted style in a more modern fabric, we can cater for all your requirements - just ask.

Loose Furniture

We refurbish existing tables, chairs and stools and also supply new, see our catalogue.

Domestic re-upholstery

Much of our work is re-upholstering suites, stools, chairs and making tailored loose covers and loose cushions to the customer's specification. We can make a tired old suite feel like new by supplying new fibres, feather or fire retardant foam cushion interiors.

Why re-upholster

By re-upholstering your furniture not only will you be doing your bit for the environment, you will be keeping your much loved comfortable items, rather than risking purchasing some uncomfortable, probably inadequately built, mass produced piece you will regret.

With hundreds of fabrics to chose from at Hams, whether it is leather, chenille, damask, linen, suede, or velvet you will be able to transform your tired looking furniture into looking brand new. With our reflex foam we use, your saggy old cushions will be brought back to life, if you require a firm foam for back support or a soft squishy foam we can also supply that.

Step 1 : Contact one of our friendly specialists to arrange a visit or Email pictures of your suite.

Step 2 : J&W Ham will measure for fabric required and estimate labour.

Step 3 : Browse our many fabric suppliers sites to select fabric. Or alternatively, browse fabrics at our showroom in Blackpool.

Step 4: We will confirm cost once fabric is selected.

Step 5 : We will arrange collection of furniture at a time to suite you.

Step 6 : We will strip off all existing fabric, check all the framework on your furniture and glue and screw to tighten where necessary any joints that are loose. We will then assess all the foam or fibre interiors and replace with new reflex foam or fibre if required.

Step 7 : Our fully trained experienced staff will then measure and cut the fabric to the correct size and shape to suit your furniture. The fabric is then taken to the sewing department where our machinist will sew it ready for the upholsterer to start covering your new furniture. The fabric will then be pulled tight around the contours of the furniture ensuring all patterns/ stripes/ weaves of the material are straight and taut. After the upholstery process is complete we then wrap the furniture up in bubble wrap and store until you are ready for delivery.
